I'm always looking things to make life easier while towing, especially over long distances. My first and most important upgrade to a truck that doesn't have them is good extendable towing mirrors. My most recent and favorite new upgrade is a backup camera. I usually have hitch up to trailers by myself and the camera takes all the guesswork out of it. And at $50 bucks or less on eBay for a decent setup, you cant go wrong.

So what does everyone else add to their trucks?

External transmission cooler if not already equipped.

Proper trailer plug if not already equipped.

Adjustable ball mount if towing different trailers.

Trailer service/breakdown kit including wire, bulbs, grease gun, jack, lug wrench, tire chocks, etc.

That's a good one. I'll add to that my cordless impact driver and impact socket set. Saved my @$$ when a buddy blew a tire on his 2500 and we were convoying on the interstate.

Airbags. It brings the steering back to the proper geometry. This is especially helpful in windy situations. The tow vehicle rides better and the towed item pulls better.

Especially when you can get a good name brand kit like Firestone with all install items included for like $350 CAD. That makes it under $300 US for a ton of safety and comfort.

This x2; I'd like to build a dedicated tow rig, something like a CCLB 3500 with like a 9' flatbed. It just makes loading shit so much easier.

Here, here. No airbags necessary for just pulling my travel trailer.
