I don't know what to look for PTO block off plate.

Jglew82, you are correct, it's showing a 241C on my end also. I had checked Advanced Auto and they are showing BW Model BW4470?

I'll get home in a few hours and check.

Aha, so you DO have a BW. Interesting. I guess that is the 1370C? Still curious about that RPO code!

I think so. I can only imagine GM uses extra part on hand as they near production runs?

Doesn't seem there's a lot on the internet about this T case...

That might be a casting number for that particular part... you don't have a tag someplace? I think mine is long and only connected on one end (by design) so maybe it got ripped off.
I was speculating about spare parts because of the discrepancy between VIN and gmpartswebsite...

I did see a round shape similar to the NP tags, but then saw BW. I'll crawl under there again tomorrow.

I'm new to these 4x4s. I was looking at the front differential thinking it was the transfer case, LOL...at least I figured it out

Ok, found a very useful thread titled,
"88GMCtruck's 98 Silverado Towpig Build: "Black Fox"
Quote from 88GMCtruck :
GM used 3 BW cases in these trucks. BW1370, BW4401, and BW4470. My truck has a BW4401. It's a predecessor of a BW1370 (they actually share a ton of parts, and half of the case even says 1370 on it). They used the BW4470 in Chassis Cab trucks which were rated at 12,000 GVW. There is also a heavier version of the BW4401, for crewcab longbedtrucks outfitted with RPO 9D6 (11,000 GVW). Both the BW4401 9D6 and the BW4470 use a 1.5" wide chain and gears as opposed to the 1.25", and the BW4470 has a fixed oil pump housing plate which the others do not have. To make it even more confusing up front there are flange (early) and fixed yolk (late) outputs, and in the rear there are slip yolk outputs for early regular cabs, and fixed yolks for the rest.

Haven't read the entire pages, but seems like a wealth of information.

Thanks for your input guys!

GM did some weird **** in these trucks. Iv'e had many k3500s from 88-up, early ones had the 241, later had the Borg Warner. Wanna say TBI's had the NP, Vortec had the BW....

I'm 99% sure being a one-ton you should have the Borgwarner 4401 t-case. I replaced the transfer case in my '98 K3500 CCLB 5.7 and that's what is in it. The ones-tons were the only ones with the Borgwarner as the 3/4 tons and below had the NP241/243 t-cases. Also, i believe the 454s and 6.5s were the ones with Borhwarner 4470 t-cases, in case it asks you when you order it. Have fun replacing it, I had to drop the torsion bar cross member since the tailhousing of the t-cade wouldn't fit past the cross member.
