Just FYI, in my experience CompNine.com seems to have the most accurate RPO descriptions. It costs $5, but they seem to know that GM recycled a lot of RPOs and do their due diligence to get everything correct.

One of my service books refers to 93 being the start year for 4L60E. As some early 93 year are 4L60, and some as my later build 93 are 4L60E.

8th digit of the VIN is a K. 5.7 TBI, I assume a TH400?
I think the standard was 700R4/4L60/4L60e for the 2500LD trucks. However, 88-89 trucks were still likely to have a TH400 (3L80), but by 90 I think they were getting phased out.

I was going to ask if OP had a 3 speed or 4 speed, sounds like it's the 4 speed. 700R4 in 1990.

The 4L70e was only used for a few years at the end of production as @Supercharged111 pointed out. IIRC, only the Trailblazer SS with the LS3 and Silverado SS LQ9 had it? Maybe '05 and '06? I'm pretty sure the 4L75e never saw any production vehicles; it was created for the aftermarket GM performance offerings.

Nad you are obviously correct, it is a 700r4, although that link incorrectly says 4L70-E. Here’s an interesting article.
As someone else already pointed out, some RPO's get recycled so they mean different things throughout the years.

One really big list of RPO's calls MT8 an 18-speed transmission, when in an early GMT400, is actually an NV4500 5-speed.

G80 is probably the best example as it simply means "locking" rear end of one kind or another. In a GMT400 that's an Eaton Gov-Loc. In many cars it means a posi, hence the eternal confusion of people calling the Gov-Loc a posi when it's not.
