If there's male lug stud threads visible on the outside, beyond the female threads in the nut...you've got all the thread engagement possible.

If you can still see female threads in the nut with the nuts torqued...you have problems.

There are two different lug nuts. Those with outer thread for decorative plastic cap. And a shorter nut without the outer lug threads. Some hub caps the black plastic lug, threads on holding on center cap. Does yours install like that? Or just a snap it on hub cap?
Good luck!

I got a shot of the right front wheel on my 8 lugger. Hope this helps ( it uses the center cap with the twist on plastic nuts, I just have them off the front wheels since a couple of the holes were broken). And these are the same nuts the 2500 had on it, I brought them out of the yard for extras.
They have the cone on the end you can't see, like most factory style lug centric nuts.

I have the center caps held on by plastic nut caps. Lug nuts are GM 9595175.

Yup mine look like that except a little bigger with 2 more nuts....one reason I wanted to get a cordless impact wrench. If I gotta take 16 things loose every time I pull a wheel, that takes a while!
