I am currently taking apart my 1992 chevy k1500 z71 with the 5.7 350 small block to replace my blown turbo400 transmission with a 1995 4l60e. I have no idea what to buy to convert my truck to the electronic transmission, i have heard i might need to buy a holley efi and ecm or holley tbi to control the electronic transmission. I really don't want to have to shift it with the shifter stick so if anyone has tips or know what to buy to make this conversion work right and reliable it would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance this is my first post on the platform.

You don't need to replace your ecm, dedicated transmission controllers exist from various manufacturers. But, if you wanted to do aftermarket efi, you should get one that has built in transmission control.

I'm thinking you could also source a '93-'95 ecm and harness if you wanted to keep it factory style.

why a 4l60e a 4l80e would be a better way to go that truck should have come with a 700r4/4l60 non-e that transmission and one you want to swap in have 27 spline output shafts and require matching t-case with 27 spine input shaft since you have a th400 that has a 32 spline output shaft and need a t-case with a 32 spline input shaft 4l80e uses same 32 spline t-case as th400 also manual transmissions sm465 hm290 5lm60 nv3500 and nv4500 also 32 spline

Back to square 1. Are you currently running the factory TBI EFI?

Are you positive that you have a Turbo 400 trans?

I wouldn’t use a 60E, a 80E would be better but if you insist then go for it. Anyways it’s easiest to swap in a whole setup from another truck with the same wheelbase. Trans, t case, driveshafts.

90 was the last year for the th400 or as it was called then 3l80 if the the truck that the op has dose have a 400 in the op put it in or a po that had the truck before the op did

Find a 700R4 and build it up per your requirements. Replace the TV cable. Your truck originally came with a 700R4 so it would be the easiest, most straight forward unit to install.

If you want to run the 4L60E, install a controller from US Shift, TCI or MSD (there's plenty of others but those are ones Im aware of).

So the only reason i am putting the 4l60e in it is because a friend gave it to me for free and it has less than 100 miles on the rebuild. And yes for what i know the wiring and everything is stock on my truck. The motor was replaced just dont think anything internally for the wiring was changed
