What do I do with the transfer case?

I have a 1998 k1500 that I am rebuilding. I am planning on swapping the engine for a west coast engines 500HP 383 stroker motor. I am trying to determine what to do with my transmission. if I upgrade to a 4l80e or a 6l80e do I have to also upgrade my transfer case? Any recommendations on who to purchase one from?

How much torque are expected to produce? GM does have maximum torque recommendations per power train without modifications.
