What and how many miles a year do you tow with your Gmt400?

I tow this maybe once a month to nearby campgrounds in Southeast TX. Taking it to New Orleans this weekend. 1998 C3500, 454.

That looks quite familiar except for the color; my crew cab has steelies on it too. My 350 would probably tow that trailer, just not as well as your 454. Do you drive this truck a lot when not towing?

Don't drive it too much if I don't have too - gets about 10 mpg no matter what I'm doing. Use my 30 mpg Corolla instead. But I don't let it sit too long without driving it some, I don't think it's good for these trucks to sit too much.

Since I've retired my K2500 'burb from DD duty. It comes out to haul people and tow my car trailer. Occasionally make a grocery trip.

So most of the miles are towing/hauling.

My crew cab with the 5.7 gets 10 mpg around town. Mom and I worked together and dailied our 5.7 suburban before we got the big truck, and it gets around the same mileage. On the highway they both do better.

Got 11mpg hauling this to Austin on 290 which is fairly hilly. Got slightly better mileage on the way home as we came 71 to 10 and then back roads, and were driving slower. On 290 we were driving 60-65 trying to keep from getting run off the road.... 5.7 got it done, but I wouldn't have wanted to go much faster with the load(that trailer was FULL!).

We are newbies to towing. We tow a 24’ travel trailer, which is around 5400 lbs. The 2500 454, which we bought for that purpose, pulls it pretty well. So far we’ve been twice, a couple of hundred miles each round trip. I’m guessing that next year, as we go farther afield, we may put a couple of thousand miles on it.

It’s perfect for the task. Having all that enclosed cargo space for miscellaneous stuff is really nice.
