Pinless has no pin. . . what's the question?
I got the pinless thing figured out. Just had to watch a few vids. Which accumulator spring? I have seen a few different versions. Version 1 is one spring, version 2 is a spring with a smaller one inside the larger spring? I'm a little confused. I have found all three, just not sure which to get. I can get all 3. they are cheap enough?

It’s time. It goes in Monday morning for diagnostics. It started having a really hard shift from 1st to 2nd and would not shift to 2nd until you let off the throttle. Then I had a couple of weird shifts just trying to cruise down the road like it was gear hunting. I’m really hoping it’s the accumulator piston, but I’m gonna go ahead and take it to a really well-known guy close to me. He does really good work for my area for the last 30 years and let him see what needs to be done. The five minutes I talked to him on the phone, and all the reviews from people in my area, has me feeling pretty good about leaving it with him since I have absolutely -100 knowledge about automatic transmissions.Usually what happens is a full rebuild, so goodbye to my savings.

Anyone know ballpark $$ for this trans? I have consistently seen 2200-2500 out the door. He does have a 3 year 36k mile warranty, so there is that.
Does the speedometer read correctly? If not, output shaft speed sensor

I had mine rebuilt with me supplying all the parts (I should own shares of Sonnax, LOL). Gary's Transmission Service in Katy, TX, west of Houston. Total was $2800 in November 2024.

Speedometer is working correctly as far as I can tell.

I had the same symptoms it ended up being the tps put it in reset it .
I replaced the TPS just due to the old one being rotted from years and years of heat cycles i'd guess. No change other than it seems to have better throttle response. I would have tested it, but it was so old and it was cheap enough to replace, so I just did that.

Ok, since MAF and TPS are cheap and mine were OLD, I replaced them anyways. Did one at a time or see if any difference was made. It really seems to help it be more linear in acceleration and how I runs, but no change in shifting behavior. I got my springs and pinless accumulator yesterday and will install today, along with a new filter and gasket. I hope to find nothing in the pan, but I'll know this afternoon if a rebuild is in my near future. MAF was so old, it was all cracked and brittle. Now it has an AC Delco (insert China) one in there. The pigtail tab is also broken off. More proof of stellar work by the PO. If they took the pigtail off, why didn't they replace the sensor? :buttkick:

So, here is the issue and so far, since the repair, seems to be just fine. No clutch material in the pan and a clearly broken outer spring. I did the Sonnax pinless upgrade and new springs.

It shifts super smooth and crisp, no delay and harshness. I am hoping crisis has been averted.
