The primer I referred to is a product specifically for prepping the surface for windshield adhesive.

I’d cut it out personally
Then roofs are double layered... I’d pull the windshield cut out all the rust find another cab and cut out more than you need then butt weld it in prime from the inside if I could ( that’s hard I know ) then I wouldn’t have to worry about it coming back..
imagine spending all this time and money for it to just come right back through the paint

I've had this Yukon for a long time, there is no visible evidence of catastrophic damage ...Yet
What I think I'll do is:

Take it slow, look around, soak it all in, I only get one shot at this. ;)

Well I got the windshield out, and there seems to be minimal damage.
The bad spot is in the first picture.
The guy that removed it said the seal separated from the paint.
Just what I thought.

This is what happened on my rear quarter windows, I had them removed and reset several
years ago, had to replace the carpet because of leakage.
It appears that these OBS SUV's had this problem, and GM/GMC stopped installing
windows on painted pinch weld. I cant confirm, but all three glasses that were installed in pinch weld...leaked eventually.
I'm doing the repair myself so we'll see how it goes.

One question... what is the best neutralizer for rust?
As always, Appreciate any advice.
Ron

Try removing it all first, like you said that doesn't look extreme.

It was not that bad at all, caught it early.
I got about 4-4 1/2 hours labor, and close to $50 in materials.
Windshield out and in with new windshield $250, so I'm happy.
Haven't wet sanded it yet, waiting for it to cure, the windshield goes back in Friday.
Cant wet sand with out a window.
