DO NOT do an upper ball joint flip if you are rebuilding your stock suspension... yes, it will help CV axle angel a little bit and it will be a better angle for the ball-joint its self, but it will move your camber WAY out and mess with your caster....
i just did mine and had to do it all over again.

another more serious problem is if the bolts ever broke...in the stock configuration the upper control arm would at least prevent the wheel from just flopping over unlike what would happen in the flipped set up.

Honestly I wouldn't worry about the bolts not holding up, I abused the crap out of mine when they were flipped and had no issues.

To the op a balljoint flip will only correct camber when you have cranked your torsion bars to far, flipping your balljoints won't mess with your caster. So you are correct with saying a balljoint flip only hurts if your at factory ride height. Check this thread I made a while back. http://www.gmt400.com/forum/showthread.php?20546-Torsion-Bar-Lift-Key-answer-thread

Yeah... I have about 2-degrees positive camber with a slight crank on my lift keys... so I need to put them back on top.... it handles like crap :(
Too bad...

We have been thru this before, it works nicely to correct your camber and give a little additional droop stop clerance. If you are not planning on cranking that high tho, Its going to put your alignment way out. You will need to knock out the slots and have it aligned afterwards, just like after doing any other suspension mod.
