Understanding why there's no 4wd - 92 K1500

May want to unscrew the old one first--engage 4WD and see if the ***** sticks out. If it does, in a reasonable amount of time, the actuator is OK.

If it doesn't, you need to assure that it's got power and ground.

if you swap it get the cable actuated one. You’ll never really have any issues again.
