I've seen a new trend going around for some offroad 4x4 vehicles using the trailer hitch mounting swing away tire carries. Anyone with a gmt400 using one? I'm curious if the dimensions line up well, with the hitch receiver being so low compared to the bumper level hitches of the modern 4x4 SUVs. I’m in a 94 2 door Yukon, for reference.

The only time I really want my full-size spare is when I'm far out and not using my trailer hitch. I figured this would clear up a ton of space in the back for longer trips. Any input?
Most of the prebuilt swing away bumpers I've seen are made for the barn door style tailgates. The style Im referencing have the longer swing away bar with the tire mounted centrally.

I’ve seen those hitch-mounted swing-away tire carriers and they seem like a pretty practical option for a GMT400, especially if you only need the spare when you’re out on the trail. On a 94 Yukon, I’d mainly be concerned about how low the hitch receiver sits and whether the carrier gives enough clearance around the bumper and rear hatch. The longer swing-away style with the tire centered seems like it could work better than a bumper-mounted setup. I’d also check the carrier’s weight rating and how much leverage the spare puts on the hitch. If anyone has actually run one on a GMT400, I’d be interested in hearing how it fit.
