I used to run 295/50/15's on my 90 reg. cab 90 model, and yeah they are wide, and they would definitly clear a 2-4 drop, when I was 16 it was the thing to have, back in the day.

I haven't found much from searching here about lowering a 2500. Are there similar parts available for the 2500 as those for the 1500 (spindles, springs, control arms, etc)?

Dumb Question:
Does lowering a truck help it get better mileage? Theoretically it seems like it should due to aerodynamics but has anyone noticed a mileage increase after a drop? I was reading about how some cars that have air ride suspension from the factory will lower themselves about an inch at speeds over 60mph to get better mileage.

There is an aerodynamic advantage, especially if the airdam is left on. The airdam helps to push more air around the side of the truck, blocking it from being dragged over the undercarriage. So yes, given identical conditions, a lowered truck will get better mileage than a stock truck. Will it be enough to actually notice? Not likely, but over the long run, there will be some small savings.

There's no such thing as a 305/35-22.5 tire. If you want 22.5" wheels, then you'll be stuck with extremely tall truck tires. If you want low profile tires, then you'll want 22.5" wheels that have been machined down to 22" wheels so then you can get some 305/35-22s.

Hello, 245/75/16's are 30.5 tall and stock 15's on a 2wd 1/2 ton are 235/75/15 or 28.9 tall, but the 3/4 and 1 ton sit higher than a 1/2 ton too, so I personally think you will be just fine with the 245/75/16's and the 3-6 drop.
