Where do you see yours calls for the D1943A and not the D1984A too? FWIU the D1943A IS NOT for an HEI system which our TBIs are, it's a less expensive replacement for the D1984A. Even Rock Auto shows the D1984A as "GM Genuine". YMMV

what’s the consensus on how long an engine can sit when assembled with assembly lube? Specifically flat tappet cam.

Mine's been sitting for a year. I still need to go through the carburetor before I try and fire it up. I plan on grabbing a drill and a toothless distributor shaft to pre-lube it before I fire it up.

It’s can sit for years as long as it’s properly sealed. Remove the rocker arms and fog the cylinders if it’s going to be a long time
