I believe I have a '98 4l60e (2 piece)... can it work on my '96 c1500 that had a 1 piece 4l60e? If so what do I do about the bottom being exposed?

Does anyone have a write-up or link or good info on how to add the ground to the harness of a '97 one piece 4l60e truck, when swapping in a two piece 4l60e? As I failed to do it and now I have two bad 4l60e trans.

Have you done the swap? Did you figure out the ground wire situation? I had pretty much the same situation just a little newer, I have a '97 C1500 5L Vortec with one piece 4l60e, I swapped in a '99 two piece 4l60e but I failed to add the ground wire cause other sources said it was a direct swap but it never shifted right and didn't last a week now I have two bad 4l60e trans and still need to figure out the grounding issue cause I'd rather stick with the improved two piece unit and I already bent the cooler lines to fit the newer trans and don't want to bend them back again.

The problem with putting the 96 trans in the 94 is the PWM valve body / pump/ TC lock in the trans. 94 has no way to control the PWM circuits in the 96 trans.

Would a 94 trans work in a 96/97 if I changed the valve body, separator plate, and 3-2 solenoid? If not, would it work if I also changed the pump? Is it just not worth it for someone who has never opened up a transmission?

All that being said, one can assume that a 700R4 from a 92 extended cab will not work in a 94 single cab.

But...are the torque converters interchangeable? Mine hits really hard from 1st to 2nd and when going from park to drive or reverse.

Does anybody know if a 96-97 4L60e pump would work on a 2004 tranny?

I know the input shaft is different and would also need a longer stator support from the newer transmission.

would the pump alone interchange?

I have a 1992 Chevy K2500, 350 Chevy engine with the 700r4. Trans needs rebuilt and I don’t have the time to take it to a shop and have it rebuilt, I’ve been looking for almost 3 months and haven’t seen an 89 to 92 700r4 from a 4x4 full size pickup. Would I be able to swap in an SM465 from a Squarebody Chevy? I looked into the NV4500 and NV3500 but they’re not easy to find either..
