Well Tahoe seems to be doing good the few times I’ve driven it around. The ‘72 is going to sit until after the new year so I can concentrate putting money into it instead of the holidays. And the Duramax is still doing great. Still need to install the stabilizer links and bushings, ordered Bosch HD brake pads for it as the drivers caliper has a rattle and the pads are a little on the thin side. Tahoe I need to install a new thermostat in it, I think it’s stuck open. Takes absolutely forever to warm up and heat is mediocre at best

This morning I replaced the thermostat and housing on the Tahoe as well as installed some headlights I got for dirt cheap on marketplace. Bleeding air now

Spent last night trying to stop the new GM Thermostat housing from dripping. No idea what was going on but it wouldn’t seal on its own. So I put a light film of gasket maker around it then put it back together. No more leaks and it has awesome heat now. I originally replaced it Thursday and filled it with new antifreeze, went out Friday afternoon and it leaked it all out! Anyway, here’s a picture of today on the backroads

The black grille drives me nuts but until I can find a nice chrome one it’ll have to do. Still needs an alignment but I’ve got it close enough to get me by until we can afford it. Just like millions of other Americans right now cash is a scarce commodity

Well we got our snow day for the year, took the backroads home since ODOT wasn’t out yet taking care of the roads. Was a very calm snow, reminded me of home before I moved out on my own with my girlfriend now wife

I for one love the dual turn signals in the front. I used to think it looked corny but it reminds me of the OBS trucks. And I haven’t seen another truck around here done the same way so I’m cool with it

Well I found a smokin deal on some aftermarket wheels for the Duramax. Also ditched the RanchHand to change it up some, I liked it but I was getting bored. So I scored a super clean factory bumper and $800 cash from the guy.

Well after daily driving the Tahoe for a week while waiting on lug nuts for the Duramax I quickly figured out the Tahoe needed more front end work. Bought new idler and pitman arms and a new bracket, replaced both front hubs and found this mess with the passenger caliper. It would randomly pull HARD to the right. The only thing keeping brake fluid in is the rust by the piston

So I ordered a new caliper and brake line for that side. As I was installing the hub the caliper decided to relieve some pressure and almost push a piston out. So I assume the hose is collapsed. That would explain the absolute pain it was to remove the caliper from the bracket

Ordered the parts to fix the ‘72 today. About $180 worth of a yoke and carrier bearing. Absolutely nuts. Tried to find the yoke locally but nobody has one. It’s “obsolete” so eventually I found one on DennysDriveshaft.com as mentioned previously. So we’ll see what happens lol

Got called out to a PD Unit with a flat last night. Took the opportunity at the shop to snap a picture in decent lighting. New center caps should be here Saturday. Tahoes brake line showed up today so just waiting on caliper. Kinda miss the ranchhand but I really dig this look better

Got the yoke and caliper in today. Couldn’t be happier with Dennys Driveshafts, quick shipping, quality packaging to protect the part. Now I’m just waiting on the carrier bearing and I should be good to go. Already have a new U-Joint for it. I’ll probably get the Tahoe fixed and bled tonight. Gonna be a busy weekend!

Still boggles my mind that everyone local believes the yoke is “Obsolete”. Maybe through major chains but it wasn’t too hard to find
