I have looked at this same engine for a long time from different suppliers. The rated HP is based on all OE parts, and just a direct swap with no mods. I have read somewhere, that the HP will go up quit a bit with performance mods. A tune, exhaust, ECT will wake up the engine a good bit. My engine has 255,000 miles and runs grate, so a swap is not in my near future. Also I kind of want to keep my truck numbers matching. Everybody does or want to do the LS swap. Thats not at all what I want. IMO it takes away from the originality of the truck. To each his own, but I like the originality of these trucks. The 383 may not be numbers matching, but at least its the same set up as the OE just up graded.

I agree. A tune is in the distant future. As far as the set up I like how it looks oe. I'm not much of a ls guy but then again I do like hp and torque lol

Well, just with the mods I have on my OE 5.7, I am around 325 HP. Yes, Ii have a lot of little things that add up to that, but none of it is extreme. Just opening up the exhaust and a set of headers is a big help. So If your OE was at 325, how much HP will the 383 make with the same mods? Just saying.
