Stuck in 4wd

Hey guys. My truck has 5.3 with 4l80 with a np241 tcase. I recently got the 4wd hooked back up(swap wasnt completed when i purchased truck). I can get it to go into 4lo then to 4hi, but i cant go back to neutral or 2wd without it grinding or shutting the truck off. I also cant shift back into park or another gear without
the tranny clicking. Im not sure if its a trans, tcase or wiring problem.

Are you trying to operate it like the handbook said?
Make, model , year, would help as there not all the same.
