Stripped oil pan threads... Would rather install some kind of ball valve anyway.

On my daily 2013 GMC 1500 that has a Pro Comp lift it was a messy ordeal to drain the oil so I installed this bought on Amazon. Slip a hose over spout and turn the spring loaded lever. If anybody is worried about “hitting something” and draining the oil, I’d say if the oil pan was close enough to cause that there would be more damage to worry about lol

Napa has self-tapping slightly over size drain plugs available in different sizes that will screw right in. Have used them several times.
Something like this.
Most hardware companies have this item; just gotta find the parts person who knows how and where to find them. I had to use one on my previous '99 Burb L31, after the oil change tech at the ferd dealership used car shop cross threaded the oil pan drain plug.
Moral of this story: beware of Chevys at ferd dealerships.... The power steering hose blew out the day after the 30 day warranty expired, everything on the poor Burb leaked, and it had myriad issues while we owned it. Then it got killed by a fwd Monte Carlo.....
Parts of it are on my current Burb, and a few others I salvaged will be eventually.

Same logic applies here. Not sure why so many are worried about "something hitting it" when discussing these valves. "Normally" cv boots don't get torn, zerks don't get busted off, wiring doesn't get ripped out of plugs, holes don't get punched in the pans, but somehow, something is going to grab the locking lever and open it lol

Probably just a fear of losing oil without any warning as your cruising down the highway miles away from any parts store. Engines vibrate a lot, lol, and we have all seen bolts vibrate loose

If there was a way to mechanically lock it, that would help.
