Looking for some insight into my situation. I got a 98 5.7L K1500 RCSB with ~300k kms. I'll be doing the body this year and trying to figure out what I'm going do with the engine/tranny.

At this point id like to replace the 4l60e with a standard tranny - not sure which at this point. Trying to keep this in mind with the engine choice.

I've thought about a LS or rebuilding the 350 for some more power or the HT383E from chevy performance. Is it possible to build my 350 for cheaper to get more horses and a better bang for you buck than the other options?

I was eyeballing the chevy crate LS. It seems like not to bad of a swap - not sure what standard tranny would be good for this sucker https://www.chevroletperformancestore.ca/product-page/ls364-450hp-gen-iii

From my research the HT383E doesn't get much great review? https://www.chevroletperformancestore.ca/product-page/ht383e
