Electronic Spark Timing - yes the 5.7L TBIs have it too. The earlier models had the connector in front of the fire wall near the trans dip stick. Later ones had it behind the glove box. Here's where it is on my 88 (Black/Tan) Note: it may be hiding inside that big wire loom.what's that "EST"? does it exist on 5.7 too?
I hope you meant to type 4° btdc,or 2 notches to the right of 0°,and not 4° atdc,it should barely run if so.Each notch is 2°. I painted the 4° notch on my dampner so the timing light lit it up well and easy to see.I found it under the glove box. Did what you guys said (+4* atdc) and it runs beautifully now! I mean great for no tune for build anyways. Thanks for the help! Now for a tune!
they say to time it with the EST disconnected. maybe then 4 degrees atdc is correct.I hope you meant to type 4° btdc,or 2 notches to the right of 0°,and not 4° atdc,it should barely run if so.Each notch is 2°. I painted the 4° notch on my dampner so the timing light lit it up well and easy to see.
Nope, it s/b 4° BTDC (Before Top Dead Center or advanced)with the EST disconnected. I just think there was some confusion there.they say to time it with the EST disconnected. maybe then 4 degrees atdc is correct.
I'd expect that to be in the service manual for the appropriate model year.anyone knows the correct figure for 5.7 with over 8500gvw emission?
According to the Haynes manual it's TDC(0°) with the EST disconnected,no difference in weight rating.anyone knows the correct figure for 5.7 with over 8500gvw emission?
