I'm working through my frame for a solid axle conversion and have taken care all the easy stuff but had questions about the boxed frame.

What kind of tools did you guys use to clean out the surface rust on the interior of the boxed section of the frame?

Any paint recommendations? I keep eyeing the Eastwood Internal Frame Coating aerosol cans with the hose attachment, is there any more industrial out there?

Dumping a can of paint and see-sawing the frame around might not be a bad idea after all ;)

Your frame is looking great! Check out this method for cleaning the inside of a frame:

I did the same thing and use compressed air to blow the frame out, then bought a couple cans of Eastwood inner frame coating in black and gave everything inside the front boxed section 3 good coats. i did this a couple years ago and just checked on it the other night by shining a flash light down the frame and it still looks really nice. The Eastwood product is the best solution I have found.

I would use compressed air instead of the leaf blower.
I have some V bar tire chains that would really take off the rust

I filled mine with foam =]
No, not insulating foam, but a STRUCTURAL foam used to lift slabs/buildings & sinkhole repair. It's closed cell, hydrophobic, and is stronger than bedrock in many aspects.

Frame was/is already so far gone, if I were to do that chain on a cable method I'm afraid there wouldn't be anything left to paint! This foam was a short term solution and more experimental than anything, idea being if water can't even get it the box, then corrosion won't worsen.
I have another frame I just need to get the rest of the burban off of it and put mine on. Should be simple right? lol

Some of your pictures repeat a few times.

Cool idea... hopefully it works well. How do you get it in place?
