I have a chance to grab a running 5.7 out of of a 1993 K1500 with 160k miles for $300. Curious if those were roller cam equipped?

Complete engine throttle body to oil pan and all the accessories.

Might have the bosses for roller but doubt will have it. Vortec's for sure, but not 100% other than that.

My 90 has the standoffs drilled and tapped but a flat tappet. Still might be a good deal.

Doesn't sound like a bad deal. The Caprices got roller cams in that era, but no love for the trucks.

That is what I was thinking (not trucks). Couple photos of the engine. I'll have to see if the electronics on the right side of the engine can come with.

My uncles 94 was. I also have an 87 G20 van that came with a factory roller cam 305 in it. That 87 had a few other odd things I have never seen before. Valve cover bolts with female torx heads and also heads that had the intake ports machined down with stainless caps to hold the gaskets in place.

The 305s had roller cams in trucks and alot of the 3/4 and 1 tons with 5.7 also did. Every vortec 96+ is roller

It's a great deal for a complete good running TBI 5.7. I used to sell them for $500 (or was it $600? yeah, $600.. known running, demonstrated) air cleaner to oil pan with accessories and had no shortage of demand, and this was 10 years ago.

Do keep in mind a certain amount of accessories aren't directly compatible with your '90. The TPS has a different connector, the throttle body itself likely will not have the stud to mount the TV cable to your 700R4/4L60 (assuming your '90 is a light duty automatic), the EGR solenoid and EGR valve may not be compatible, etc. etc.

Overall though the majority of it is directly swappable for a '90.

Had a couple tbi motors in my older vehicles. Few b-bodies, couple trucks. My 4.3 w/t c1500 was unstoppable. Nothin would kill that motor...not even my sister drivin like Bo Duke on the back roads. Im hopin to find a 95 c1500 soon to kinda be lil brother twin to my 98 k1500.
