I’d like to get a new coil and ignition control module, proactively, and if nothing else so I can put my currently working ones in the tool bag as a set of spares…
But what is even a reliable brand these days? ACDelco seems over priced for the Chineseum they are likely made of… any trusted brands on the rock auto list?

2000 7.4 Vortec, if it matters-

I bought an accel coil, it died after maybe 200 miles, with zero symptoms while doing 65 on a rural road with traffic and nowhere to pull over. It got chunked in the woods.

I've got a Davis Unified Ignition coil an ICM in my truck, so far so good. I do plan on getting one of their distributors to replace my factory one. I've read nothing but positive reviews about DUI, unless something has changed in the last year or so

Thank you for the year and engine size, but we still need the make and model. United Motor Products makes excellent ignition component parts for your year and engine size. Here are some examples as to what they have for your description, unfortunately no prices. Here is their website in case you would like to utilize them or maybe through Rock Auto with their part numbers.
https://unitedmotorproducts.com Anyway, good luck in your endeavor, and let us know what transpires.

I have used D.U.I. hei distributors in the past and they were excellent and made in U.S.A.. I had an MSD distributor in my 94 and had nothing but issues, switched back to AC Delco and had zero problems before I sold the truck.
The MSD is sitting on a shelf in my garage still, when we build a motor for my son’s truck it will get a Davis ignition system. And the MSD will continue to sit.
