I wouldn't call it red, but here it is.

Edit: looking back at other's pictures, I see they are colored..... maybe I should scrub mine, to see what I can see.

I'd guess the tags are the Broadcast Code..... easy/quick identification for in-plant use, rather than a long part number.
This was the best i could determine. They are very specific to year, body type, c or k.
I’ve been trying to find the correct ones for my 96 k1500, and I thought I had it narrowed down to sfj as that is all I could find for 96 k1500 ecsb. But another guy I found has sfk on his 96k1500 6.5

I found this quote online: “That tag is was used by the assembly line to identify the application for a particular frame. Usually they are on upside down as that is how the frames were stacked on the pallets”.
Mine were upside down!

Yours looks possibly yellow. Color is probably important as well as letter codes, for easy identification on the assembly line

Yes, I forgot about color codes..... driveshafts have color codes on the tubes, for that reason.

You've convinced me..... I'll clean the tag. Maybe you and I will start the newest GMT-400 trend, cleaned and armor-alled frame tags

I haven't looked under the Burb close enough to see if it has these. Guess I should, to see what they may be?

Well, unfortunetly I broke mine. I sprayed it with some bathrrom cleaner that wasn't going to take the undercoating off, and decided to take it off the frame. It looked like it just popped into a hole, so I put a 3/8" extention on the back side of it and hit it with a rubber hammer. It came right off, but it also broke. It is yellow, as the backside is relatively clean. I don't know how you could see that, as the front is almost completely black after spraying cleaner on it and scrubbing it with a nylon brush. It's soaking in some degreaser that will hopefully remove the undercoating. I'm still hoping I can figure out some way to put it back on.
