Agree with @PlayingWithTBI If they are set-up correctly it shouldn't matter. I've got 2 trucks with 4.10s and one with 3.42. I can't tell any difference as far as rear end noise, aside from the 4.10s obviously will make the engine spin a bit faster. All my trucks run LT265/75/16s.

I'm actually in the process of regearing the 3.42 to 4.10...

Anyway, 3.73s should be fine. I'm sure you'll enjoy them. Since you mentioned noise though, any numerically higher gear will make your driveshaft spin faster and more vibration if stuff is worn out. So probably worthwhile to inspect driveline components for wear like U-joints, carrier bearings, etc.

I'm turning ~2800 @ 80 with 4.11s and 275/60R15 and it's fun all over the spectrum :anitoof:

Is it just a 3.90 thing? My 4.11s are nice and quiet

Yeah, the 700R4/4L60/4L60E are all .70 in 4th/OD
Ya, seems to be a 3.90 thing. Just curious what kind of mileage you think your getting whild doing 80mph for a few hours on the highway ? And does the higher winding rpm get on your nerves ? If there was not a hugh diff in highway mileage, I may just move up to 4.11. I still have time since I just dropped off the diff today. I gotta believe the 4.11's provide a noticeable increase in performance.

IDK what kind of mileage I get, I'm not commuting 100 miles/day, it's just a fun truck to play with. I really don't think I've lost much as apposed to my original 3.42s. I did gain 3/10ths of a second in 0-60 and 1/4 mile.

With my 3" Borla Pro XS straight through muffler I do get a little drone at ~60 MPH but it kinda goes away at higher speeds.

finally getting this truck on the road. wow, the acceleration is def pretty fun with 4.10gearing. I can confirm I'm turning 3000rpm at 90mph with the 29" rear tire, but with a 22" magnaflow muffler (xpipe inside it) - it sounds great.

Glad you went 4.10, not sure why people are so scared of that gear. Hell, I had a 2001 Tahoe that was ordered with 4.10s, my wife put almost 300k hard miles on that rig, running 75-80 mph everywhere.
