Agree with @PlayingWithTBI If they are set-up correctly it shouldn't matter. I've got 2 trucks with 4.10s and one with 3.42. I can't tell any difference as far as rear end noise, aside from the 4.10s obviously will make the engine spin a bit faster. All my trucks run LT265/75/16s.
I'm actually in the process of regearing the 3.42 to 4.10...
Anyway, 3.73s should be fine. I'm sure you'll enjoy them. Since you mentioned noise though, any numerically higher gear will make your driveshaft spin faster and more vibration if stuff is worn out. So probably worthwhile to inspect driveline components for wear like U-joints, carrier bearings, etc.
