This may help some time:

Here's a quick 'how to' on putting together the drum brakes of a 14bolt semi floating rear axle assembly (same as the 10 bolt).

LEFT WHEEL!

Used a piece of folded cardboard to hold the hook up top make it easier to connect the spring.

Cool, Thanks.

What do I need to do to prep the rear for paint? I imagine I can't paint over the rust...

Small pieces I have sandblasted, the large parts I wire brush and If I can use my angle grinder with a wire wheel on it to clean it up the best I can. I use xylol to wipe everything down to remove grease and grinding residue. That tractor paint is pretty forgiving so if you don't get all of the rust off it won't be that big of a deal. I just painted a snowplow that was in bad shape and it really was "dirty" even after prepping it. The paint is standing up to Michigan weather just fine. Like I said it is really tough ****.
