One of my trucks is a 1994 c2500 light duty 6 lug 3.73 with a 6.5 diesel. Well it’s time for a new rear end. What are the best options? Would like disk brakes but everything else is up in the air

You are going to be limited on that option. Discs are going to be aftermarket for sure for that generation.

I didn't realize they made 6.5 diesel in the 2500 Light Duty version. Is this a non-turbo engine?

What is wrong with your axle anyway? Can it not be fixed? Have you inspected it?

Not to hijack the thread but a FYI the 6.5 TD could be had in a 1500 as well.
Yes sir. Correct. Pretty rare (but sweet!!!) setup!

I forget the rear axle setup...can you refresh my memory please? Was the 9.5" 6 lug standard? Didn't the suburban K1500 TD 6.5 have a different axle or something like that? I just remember the 6.5 TD K1500 had something "standard" over the trucks...

Is "Hydroboost" the answer you're looking for?

Just a guess.

There was a guy on GMT400 this week with a 6.5TD Tahoe, IIRC. Were all Tahoes C/K1500s, i.e., no C/K2500s, which could be had with Suburbans?

Not really, but may be a relationship there..

I want to say some of those 6.5 TD got a 10.5 full float rear axle "on the suburbans only"?

... that's what I can't recall at the moment... Again, TD 6.5 C/K 1500 (truck or SUV?)

being extremely rare.
@smk2500 I believe is the one I learned this from on a past thread.

I don't know much about the 1500's with the 6.5. I do think the got the 9.5 6 lug SF and had the 80E. Other then that I think every thing else was pretty much the same as any other 1500.
