Looking to do something for Father’s Day coming up and an idea I had was detailing or getting pop’s 92 detailed in and out. It’s just a working farm truck, but has a pretty rare paint job that’s still mostly all there. I’ve been looking at threads but wanted to get some opinions specifically on his because of the condition it’s in. What do y’all think will be needed to bring some of this paint back to life? Or is that haze clear coat coming off? It stays outside but not under any trees.

Just brainstorming, still deciding if it’s worth it.

I mean a good cut and buff would bring some life back for sure and get rid of some of the scratches but with the rust hole in the bottom right cab and the dent I would maybe look at a small resto paint job instead? reason I say this is for the spots that end up looking great its going to highlight the imperfections even worse

This^^

It's a really nice idea, but with dents on both rear cab sides and significant visible rust holes it's basically like polishing a turd. Not meaning the truck is a turd, it isn't, but spending money on bringing that paint back without addressing the other issues would be pointless.

Trust me, I’m on the same train of thought as you guys. Money better spent elsewhere for sure. I guess now really the question is what would be the “minimum” I could do to remove all the gunk from the black and clean up the red as much as possible without cutting it. Any good tips or products?
