Damn! Make a thread on how you did the leds around the edge. This is too good of a mod not to have its own page.

ha! ha!

it wasn't hard at all...
remove overhead console
separate (unscrew) the two parts (top/bottom) of the console
attach LED's to the 'bottom part' (the plastic piece) of the console
screw the top and bottom pieces of the console back together **you can only go "so tight" with the screws becuz the LEDs are now sandwiched between the two pieces of the overhead console.
wire the LEDs to the truck (this was easy for me becuz i already had added power for my gauges in the ceiling)
reinstall the overhead console

it's definitely not as 'sexy' when the truck is off....

i'm going to run with this for now. i'm thinking in the future i might redo this and instead of putting the LEDs between the two pieces of the console, add some plexy glass insert between the headliner and the console and move the LEDs there?? who knows.

these are the LEDs is used... LED cob strip lights

the LEDs i used were just left over from another project...:head3:

Great work. Good idea on the lights, at first I thought it was that EL rope led in the plastic sheath that you can sandwich in between things.

The homelink is responsive when tested as in pressing each button illuminates the red “home” LED. I am not seeing any difference when applying power through the green wire which I think is supposed to be backlighting for the buttons. Notice also the missing pins from the right hinge.

Followed info in this post fir wiring.
The best I did was I got it in but I couldn’t figure out where this last wire connected to but you’ll just need to gain power from the lights. I think the last wire goes to an antenna because it works to a point just can’t get a signal to any transponders
