I'm going to get my truck resprayed in the spring.

Right now, it has factory pin stripe. Should I have the body guy redo the stripe? The truck is the (I believe) Olympic White color GM used for years.

What do you guys and girls think?

Thanks!

I love hand pinstripe on pre-80s cars. Post 80's needs to be just right to make it look good. If the pinstriper follows the body lines and makes it subtle OR goes way overboard and makes it a work of art then YES. Anything in between then NO.

Yes, the stripe along the upper body line on the 400s looks great -- properly done. Pinstriping is one of those things that is really easy to overdo. But that simple double line stripe like the factory did(or was it an option that the dealership did?)that is the way to go in my opinion. And with a white truck you have way more options on color. Now on my trucks, the pewter or gold, there's only certain colors that don't clash with the main paint color....

I recently took off my pin strip, it revealed something i had not really noticed before, without the pinstripe the angle/bend on the metal along the length of the truck is visible. The pin stripe cleverly hides this pattern in the metal.

I'm not a big pin-stripe fan. I'd say if you have a particular stripe on your truck that you already like, then get it re-done, or if you've seen a particular stripe/pattern on a GMT-400 than sure get it done. I guess what I'm saying is that it you have something specific you like then got for it, but if you just have generalizations in mind then it's going to be an experiment on your newly painted truck.

Back in the 80's and early 90's it was a way to customize a truck, but to me it just looks cliche old-man/ranch/dated in most cases.

Lol, I don't think I've seen that, at least not in person. I was thinking of the curly Qs all over the place. I don't know how many times I've seen an older farm truck, or tow truck, or old guys 5th wheel hauler done up like that.
