As per the title - and as dictated by Sod's law, the driver's one - it wont lower. The other three are working fine - which probably means the fault is in the driver's door. Is this a common fault with a known solution? Or will I have to dig in to find it?

Probably the switch if you can control the other windows from your door. That means you have power at the cluster so, I'd swap switches and see what happens.
