Well I been doing some serious reading on nv4500 transmissions and I have apparently stumbled upon one of chevys diamonds in the rough..... my 92 ecsb 4x4 is no doubt a 1500 with the 5.7 k code truck... okay I thought someone put a nv4500 in it. Turns out in 92 93 and 94 gm did make this a special order option for silverados....and I happened to stumble on my baby at a salvage yard I worked at and rescued her

Yep that was the '94 GMC C1500 I picked up 6 years ago (wow it seems like it wasn't that long but the date stamp doesn't lie...)

5.7, NV4500, and 99K apparently easy miles on it - NV4500 verified as original via RPO MT8 on the SPID label.

Looked great with some Boss 338's, this is how I sold it.

I still see it around every once in a while; the old dude that bought it even got it repainted the factory color.

I had at 1995 K1500 RCSB with a factory NV4500 as well. I wish I wouldn't have sold that truck.

A previous owner swapped an NV4500 into mine. I think the NV3500 is a little more fun to drive, but the granny gear in the NV4500 is good for rock crawling. It's supposedly one of the toughest 5-speeds ever made.

they're out there, i had a 93 GMC rcsb from the factory with a nv4500. now have a 95 chevy 2500 ld ecsb with the nv4500. BTW, if ya cant read the label in the glovebox to know how ure truck was originally equiped with, u can take the Vin # to any gm dealer. in the parts/service dept they can give u a complete printout of all the codes, also most will show what they mean, ie gt4 = 3.73 gears, nzz = skid plates, etc

Note everything on it is the regular lightweight 1500 stuff, JB5 brakes for example, and lame GU6 (3.42 rear), no G80 locker, but that MT8...

By the way the tow hook RPO is the V76 shown.. other not-so-common option on the pickup, V27 bumper guards
