Hello guys. I am close to converting my 97 suburban 2wd from auto to manual nv4500 5speed. I have everything now except I think I will need a different crossmember. Does anyone know what models(c2500,k3500, for example) will work with this trans. Thanks

I think you're going to have to find a truck that is not only a C2500 or C3500, but also has/had an NV4500 in it, I doubt the crossmember is the same for that and a 4L80E

Look for a 2500 (8 lug) or 3500 with NV4500. Pretty sure C/K of either flavor should work.

You could ask a fab shop to quote a custom crossmember, it's a fairly simple job for someone with the right skills and tools.

Hi Jim,
I recently went through this changing my C3500 4L80 to NV4500 and being in Australia, needle in a haystack would have been great odds for me. It's more like unicorn in the universe odds over here of a manual crossmember. Anyway, I had no option but to fabricate my existing one, and I've put some photos on my build if you want to have a look. It was pretty straight forward and PM me if you have any questions. Good-luck

Thanks for info Clinton. I will end up building my own crossmember. I was hoping to see your pics but cannot seem to find them. But thanks for your input
