Screaming? Nah.. 3.73's out back are pretty tame compared to 4.63 or 5.13 in the 3500HD's. The 225/70/19.5 tire is about 32" so that helped negate a little of the steep rear gear but not much. You still get 0.73 5th gear...

I figured the RPM would be kinda high with the engine/trans and rear end along with the tire size - 265/70/16. When I had the 3500 in there, driving at 70, my RPM would be about 2300-2400.

As some of you know, I'm swapping a 4500 into my K1500. I should the transmission in the next day or so but I will still need the housing. I saw some on Summit and ebay that appear to be the correct ones but just need some input so I get the correct one. Also, it's a 94 model that I'm converting to internal slave.

Here are a few I am looking at:

Hey man how’s it going I have an 1989 Chev Ext cab 2wd. I installed a GM Preformance Ram Jet 350 crate motor. I bought a new old stock Nv 4500 I originally used the internal hydraulic slave that came on HD trucks and I used a new aluminum factory bell housing it had a big hole in the side that would have been filed with a rubber boot. Then I pulled all that out and put in a McLeod universal hydraulic throw out bearing , center force clutch and SFI flywheel and I used a bell housing from a kit that I bought from Midwest transmissions that they bought from Advanced Adapters.
This one was a little shorter with no whole in the side for the yolk. Anyway I thought the bolt patterns were all alike 5.7 ,5.0,3.6 conforming to a bolt pattern standard for manuals. But I could be completely wrong. I have that aluminum Factory bellhousing still sitting on the floor of my shop. If you want it I’ll give it to you. I have way too much s__t. If your interested I can look up the part # for you . And if you wanted it you would have to pay for shipping from Texas.
I did install a custom short throw shifter from a guy on eBay that worked well. I have several other parts related to that trans new shifter some boots. If you need anything let me know

Even thought the external slave is a major PITA to bleed, I greatly appreciate it's simple and easy to replace design... Particulary on a 4X4.
