I have a 94 C1500 with the 5.7 and NV3500. What all will it take to swap in a T56? does it require fabrication? Does it bolt in? Are there swap kits? I want to do this swap eventually and I want to do it properly

Have you made any progress on this? Im looking to do a ls swap with t56. Ive found a t56 locally for $1000 obo and i would like to jump on it. Ls engines are everywhere but the t56 not so much. I would like to get the t56 and install it until i find a ls1 or Lq9. My only difference is that i have a 4.3. But i know everything would be the same as a 5.7. 4.3 with t56 swap seems to be popular in s10 forums

If you found a T56 for $1000 and it's not broke you need to jump on it. I've not seen one under $1500.

I have a T56 going into my Tahoe Limited.

Most of it is bolt up. Not sure about the trans mount yet. The shifter is in a different place, but you can get mid shift kits for the T56 or just run the shifter back in the stock location through a new hole in the floor.

Driveshaft length should also be unchanged if you're going from a 4L60E, but you will probably need to re-gear your axle. The T56 is a close ratio transmission with a double overdrive...T56 with 4.56 rear end is similar to an NV3500 with a 3.42 rear end.

Depending on your truck, this might also be a problem for driveshaft critical speed. I'm putting a 2 piece shaft in the Tahoe to fix this.

If the mount is off a simple redrill on the frame will have you on your way.
