I am getting my transmission rebuilt and while it's out I figured to rebuild the transfer case myself. Where should I go to buy the rebuild kit and is there a schematic of how it goes together?

What transfer case is it? Sounds like you got a good deal. I've got a NP246 with the autotrac mechanism I may want to rebuild myself. Those have a clutchpack similar to the transmissions, and they are prone to that pump rub issue...I know this is an old thread but wondering if you ever went through with the home rebuild or not and if so any lessons learned. I have a 1998 k1500 and was able to pick-up a 4L80e complete with the t case for $575 from a 1999 k2500 that rusted out at 119k miles. Transmission is going to a rebuild shop who will also do the conversion but I am looking to do the t case myself. I got an ebay kit (looks like they're all the same) that covers bearings, seals, and pads. The existing t case has rtv on all the flanges so I presume someone's been through it before given that the never wrong internets states that GM only ever used anaerobic case sealant and so should you on rebuilds. Transmission shop wants $600 for the rebuild which is likely fair given the time involved but looking to save some money. I have some concern that it may be beyond my skills (I've done head gaskets on the motor but never anything on the drivetrain) though so looking for input from others who have done it.
