NP241 oil

Anybody know off hand the capacity of a NP241? Mine has never leaked on the ground in the year I’ve owned it. But I just checked and added 1.5 quarts. Guess it was so low it couldn’t leak any more.

Holy ****, my NP246 in my wife's Envoy took just under 2 quarts of the blue smurf **** when I purged it. My guess is you were about bone dry.

You were just about dry. They only take like 2.5-3 quarts total when they're new.

That’s kinda what I thought. It was only noisy in 4wd. It’s oily around the output shaft. It must have leaked out there during the previous ownership.

Output shaft seal is the #1 culprit.

My np241 was also leaking from the rear output seal as well. how do you exactly replace it?
