I didn't see a thread for this type of thing already (I'll admit, I didn't do an in-depth search..) so here it is! Post whatever noteworthy vehicles and parts you see for sale, for comedic purposes or otherwise.

Here's a 1988 C3500 on Craigslist: Ace of base. Whoever ordered it must've had a specific job for it to do. So base it's even got the rock bottom standard cluster, which I've never seen before. Only options I can spot are tilt steering wheel and the automatic. Not sure if hydroboost was optional or not. Weren't clearance lights standard on dualies? Someone must've swapped that grille on, all the stuff I've read suggests four-eyes were standard on Silverado and optional on Scottsdale, not available on Cheyenne.

That's your basic truck!

We do have the "stuff that catches my eye" thread that I think stuff like this might fit nicely into:

Interesting cruise control module ... Does not look factory at all.

You linked it , did you look at the photos? It has the clearance lights. It has hydro boost. It's not unusual that some buyers don't want a lot of " bells and whistles ".
What is unusual is it is equipped with supplemental air bags, yet only has a 350 / 5.7
Think heavy axle / tow weights, yet only a small block for power? That is a brain twist.

..Did you read my post? Read it again. ;)
Airbags would've been aftermarket equipment, no? That stuff doesn't count in my eyes. Being an early truck means it would have a big ole Dana back there, but the small block is a brain twister for sure. Although if we wind the clock back another twenty or so years, it wasn't uncommon for single rear axle flatbeds and what not to be motivated by straight sixes of even less displacement. Thank you gearing? What was the top speed of something like that, 40mph? :rotflmao:

It could fit there, but the title of that thread suggests it's open to more than internet finds, like pictures of cats, memes and what not. I wanted to name the thread "Noteworthy Car-related Internet Finds," but felt that was too clunky.
Man, 36 years ago I'm sure that truck wasn't much more than that new on the lot. But it is cool regardless.
On paper, sure. Adjusted for inflation though, $14,000 USD in 1988 is equivalent to roughly $38,000 USD today.

I didn't catch that box when I scanned through the pics the first time. Definitely not factory and I don't see any controls for it in the cabin.

And not even a big block either....
Right? I wouldn't be surprised if that thing had 4.56's out back. Coupled with the tree speed automatic, talk about a screamin' Jimmy..

Hmm, spoken like someone with vested interest in said vehicle. ;)
