Here's the ratchets; I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about the 1/2 inch; I wanted a flex-head and that was the shortest one he had. It's honestly a lot nicer than I thought it was going to be as far as the head pivot goes.

And the wrenches; scored these for $100 bucks.

No pics yet of the impact socket set or the 3/8 M12 impact I got for Christmas; all that was still locked up in my brother's truck.

Nice!

Crescent brand 3/8" swivel head and 1/4" rachets. These 2 were $43 shipped to my door. I've had them for a while now and really like them. I have added some hockey tape to the handles, but that is a personal preference thing.

I love stuff that works well without breaking the bank!

I went to HF the other day to get some new tools. My intent was to get some sockets, wrenches, and extensions. But I walked out with a welder instead! First impression and I'd have to say the build quality is fairly good, considering HF past tool quality. I haven't welded since high school, so I'll have to learn all over again.

Nice! Decent quality low-budget welders are really getting competitive. I think their MIG170 is probably competitive with the Miller 211 I bought eight years ago at twice the price.

My wife asked me to buy her gear so she could use my welder, and now I use her stuff instead of my own.

My welding helmet is one of these I caught at half-price a while back, but the Jackson's better.

Running out of wire sucks. Don't bother buying the 2 lb spools of wire. I don't weld often, and I buy the 10 lb spools. I also started with a mid-heigh height bottle, but swapped up to a 125 cf bottle. It was smart to start with a small bottle, though, because it only cost $30 when I stupidly left the bottle open overnight. Now I always shut the bottle when I shut the welder off, and the bottles last significantly longer at $50 a fill.

That's pretty cool that your wife was wanting to use your welder. There's not too many women like that out there. It reminds me of my mom though she didn't weld but I remember as a little kid going with her to pick out chainsaws.

This was the most budget-friendly welder I could find locally. To me, buying a $1400+ welder for recreational use is a bit insane. I plan on getting some more wire spools in the next few weeks and some shielding gas as I have some projects that don't exactly fit in my garage...

When I was in high school, I started learning with arc, then worked my way to gas. My shop teacher told me that I started with probably the hardest...

Best way to learn. I started with an arc welder, patching holes in thin metal. I can fill gaps like a champ! A friend once brought me a rusty, busted up brush hog with 1/4" gaps to fill. It took me about an hour and he immediately went and brush hogged ten acres without any of the welds breaking. That really fired me up to learn more and move up to a mig.

Does anyone know of a tool for compressing the spring at the end of the parking brake cable where it attaches at the shoe lever?

I was thinking of this, but the reviews are iffy from GM owners. I’ve been doing the two vice-grip method for years but figured that there has to be a better way.
