Won this 1998 C1500 Silverado at auction for $1850. 5.7l engine, 2wd, 177k miles.

Issues - mushy brakes, climate control knobs broken, no blower for heat/cool, mirrors only move in one direction, passenger lock jammed, tailgate wouldn't open, no temperature on gauge, smell of rich/unburned fuel in exhaust, stanky oil (fuel).

Fixes - all new brake components (drums, rotors, wheel cylinders, shoes, pads), replace climate control panel, replace blower, replace mirror control switch, free jammed rod for passenger lock, remove tailgate latch and lubricate/free up mechanism, radiator flush, replace temp sensor and thermostat, oil and filter change, new plugs/wires/distributor and rotor.

Now it runs like a top and I think I've found a new love in the GMT400 model trucks! :)

Very cool. It's a baby, lots of miles left on it. And when something breaks, it's a relatively easy fix, and you're back on the road. Every time I drive mine, it just amazes me how solid and fun to drive it is. What's your plan? Daily driver? Project?

Thanks for the warm welcome. I also own this 1986 Chevy M1008 5/4 ton CUCV so the GMT400 will be my driver and the former military "Beast" will be my heavy hauler.
