You're in the right place!
First thing I'll say is learn the limitations of the 6.5, and don't ask it to do more. They have their fans, and their purpose, but I (and others) despise them. I've owned 2.

Cool truck regardless!

Edit: I see you're from southern Illinois, me too. PM sent.

Welcome to the forum. New guy here as well. Never seen a diesel Suburban before. I've only seen a handful of 2500 Suburbans online and only one in person. All of them were gas though.

Welcome to the forum! I have had two '99 Burbs, both of mine were/are 2wd 5.7 gassers though. I think the half ton Burbs were more popular for people who needed a big SUV to haul family and dogs, and the 2500 3/4 ton ones were bought for work crew vehicles or towing trailers. I've seen a couple of 2500 400 series Burbs in Austin last weekend, doing just that(both pulling enclosed trailers that were bigger than the Burb!). The 2500/3500 platform is really optimized for towing and hauling a load, with the 4L80E transmission, better gearing, axles and brakes, and larger engines. My 1 ton is a 5.7 but it does well with what I've tasked it with, but I'm not trying to haul a huge rig with it either!
