I bought a 88 stepside a little over a year ago that had good potential. I wanted a truck with better performance than the ZR2 blazer I was driving.

Good frame and only a little rust on the body (cab corners, rocker panels, fenders). It has a Mr. Goodwrench crate motor 350 with Holly port injection, MSD ignition and a 5 speed. I decided to fix it up better than new. The build begins....
Everything came off the front

Core support was a mess too and needed to be opened up

Took the bed off to get at the frame in the back

Power washed the frame, removed all the lines, gas and brake, applied a hard glaze to seal it then a rubber undercoat to protect it.

Installed a TruTrac diff in the rear so that it will go better in any New England weather. Junkyard rear sway bar off Tahoe mounted with new bushings and links.

The nice leather seats it came with, not sure what their out of, but on a new frame that drops them down to a better height. Junkyard find for all the interior trim out of a GMC. Also moved the aftermarket tach off the top of the dash and put it in the dash above the light switch. Installed gauges out of a 91 cluster and did the DIP switch mod to the speedo. Other switches in the dash for the extra lighting

Installed on new body mounts. Now has two electric fans, one controlled from Holly ECU and one from aftermarket thermostat that has a probe in radiator by the top hose. Lots of work in the engine bay. Plugs, wires, cap & rotor, new hoses on everything. Power steering runs through the unused tranny cooler in the radiator. Oil cooler is not hooked up yet. Tones of time to retune the ECU maps, they were way off and had to learn how to do it first.

I got a lot of good ideas and tech help on this forum during the build, THANKS.
Lots of detail work on the truck not listed here. Lots of parts from LMC and O'Reileys as well as others. It took 6 months to get it on the road and most of a year to get it close to 100%.
But even with all I put into it it was not half the cost of a new Silverado and it's just the way I want it.
