My '71 Monte Carlo SS

I figured I'd start a thread for the partial rebuild I did on my Monte a few years ago.

This is basically how she started. A numbers matching 454/TH400 car. It was in pretty good shape, but she was tired, and well overdue for a cleanup.

I drove it for a summer, but quickly decided to pull everything from the firewall forward off of the car, and clean and rebuild it all.

Here's how the engine bay started out. Complete, but really dirty.

Poof! No more 454.

I then started on painting the frame and the firewall.

Here's the 454 back in my shop after being sent out to be rebuilt. It got a standard overbore and a mild cam with domed pistons.

All unwrapped. It's better than opening any Christmas present.

All finished...for now. I also swapped out the original 15x7 rims for a set of 15x8 Corvette rally rims.

Sweet ride! I've got a '70 with the 400 small block and a TH350, also numbers matching. Love these cars.

THAT WAS MY 1ST CAR!!!! Well, other than mine had a 402 and was not an SS. Triple black and Corvette rally's. I really miss that car!
