It might be just me, but I’d take the LS1 and just sell it and go buy a 6.0 with the money.

Personally I would take the LS1, sell it and get a 383. Without a ton of mods a LS is dissapointing in a heavy truck. You will spend 2x as much getting a 400-450 hp LS into your truck, running and reliable as you will building/buying a fresh 383 and swapping it and you will still have a 150K+ mile LS at the end of the day.

I had a 6.0L, a set of LS3 heads and a LSA blower and built a 383 rather than LS swapped.

It's a rebuilt 4l60e for a 96-98 5.7. It got a 2 piece case so it's not an early model
Electronically it is a later model but the converter, bellhousing and input shaft match the early engine. Won't last long behind a healthy engine. My cammed 305 with bolt ons killed the one in my 99 Tahoe. Better to just 4L80E swap.
