Figured I would start a build thread over here. I've finally bit the bullet and am going LS.

Suspension is lowered 3/4 with Caltracs and a rear swaybar from a suburban.

The truck sits on 15x7 and 15x8 forged Centerline wheels.

Current pics of the truck.

The old set up was:
Vortec 305
Marine intake
1.6L Whipple with a 2.75" pulley
A/W intercooler
Water/Meth
0411 PCM

The little 305 ran really well for a little boosted motor with a best of 13.4 @ 100.5 but it just wasn't enough. I sold the Whipple, intake, water/meth and bought a 5.3LS. Plan is to get it running then throw a turbo on it.

Took the motor to the machine shop and had them check everything out. They replaced all the bearings, installed new rings and gapped them for boost, ARP rod bolts, and did any needed machine work.

Then I slid in a cam that will work well with boost, ARP head studs, Melling oil pump, LS2 timing chain, LS9 head gaskets.

Then pulled out the Vortec.

Picked up a set of accessory brackets from Lextech so I could keep the Vortec A/C compressor. (Bracket is grey, dunno why it looks blue in the pics)

Next I have to build the exhaust, I have a set of Schoenfeld headers and all the piping needed.

After that is to finish all the wiring.

And the wiring begins, taking what I need off the LS harness.

Got 90% of the wiring complete, just need to run the coil pack wires and knock sensor wires then loom everything.
Also got a belt that fits the Lextech A/C brackets, his kit is top notch!
