So I've got a 99 GMC Suburban K1500 that I've got for 500 bucks an it was a steal. Changed out the spider injector an bypass the stupid anti theft system. I could go all day on how this looked but I've found something that's concerning. Recently I've noticed a control arm mount that's separating. I've had this truck for about over a year an have recently saw this just a couple weeks ago. There's a few things I question. How did it separate an is there a way to weld it back together an call it a a day. I don't plan on selling this one.

I know you dont know the entire history on the 99, but given the pics, I would say that its been in an assdent at some point and a questionable quality body shop heated the frame to help straighten/pull it. If you notice in the pics, the metal is rusty like its been heated (Might be salt damage, but I dont see much of that where I live so someone else may differ.), as well as there being a torch nick near the crack. Since it is behind the wheel and not just in front supporting the radiator, I would have it glanced at by a professional body shop. If they say weld it and go, that is what I would do. If they say its not been heated and cut, you can always check the dealership to see if there are any recalls on your truck, especially the frame.

I have to kind of agree. It looks like previous work in that area. I see what looks to be a cut mark from a saw or cut off wheel and some poor welding. Poor welding happens at the factory level as well so that in and of itself is not really definitive.

4 wheeling twice doesn't mean much. Bottoming out hard or running into something once does. You sure?

Compare that area to the other side of the vehicle.

These frames are mild steel so if you can get the stuff lined up and the lower control arm mounting hole where it should be it could possibly be welded. Ideally with frame measuring equipment, line everything up, weld, and then measure again after welding to ensure everything stayed put through the welding process so you can get a proper alignment back on it.

I can't seem to enlarge your photos for some reason so I can't see as much of it as I'd like to.
