Interesting winch mount. Don't think I've seen that method before.

I got creative.I didn't want a big bulky looking winch bumper so I cut & drilled some 3x3x3/8 galvanized L channel,bolted it to where the tow hooks were with the channel extending enough to mount the plate that came with the winch.It was necessary to notch the bumper a little with a Sawzall to allow the channel to go through it.I then added the short pieces of 1x1/4 stock on the corner/end of the winch mounting plate,a little welding and paint and there you have it.Pretty strong too.Not real pretty but it gets the job done.

BTW 9,000lb winch.
