Leaf spring R&R....

The leafs from a 02 1500hd fit right in my 96 and have thick springs and a long overload.

I had the opposite issue with my C1500. The PO added a leaf and jacked the rear end up about 2" - rode like a truck. My OE springs were 3+1. You can add a leaf or go with 4+1s

More springs are not always better. The design of the spring and spring rate are what matters.

for it less than a year ago and wasn't sure how the rear was gonna set. But it's the same. 38" to the center of the wheel openings.
