Well, I figured it's about time to start my build thread. I've been making some pretty good progress, and if I wait any longer, I'll probably forget a lot of stuff. I'll do my best to add hyper links from related posts so that everything ties together.

The Member Truck Thread

So my project is a '93 RCSB with a 5.7L 350. It's all stock with about 452,000 miles on the chassis. We replaced the engine with a factory crate motor at approximately 325,000 miles. Wish we would've rebuilt the OG motor, but oh well. It's been a great truck :waytogo: I'm planning on doing paint, suspension, and a few mods within the next 12 months, but it will probably take me waaaay longer. We all know how these builds go, right? Time and money...

A few pics after I scored a front bumper from the junk yard...

I replaced the front bumper because of a small fender bender with a Bimmer in 2017. Much to my surprise, the Bimmer didn't even look like it got hit.

Me...not so much...

I hit the junk yard, and sourced a nice core support from a '98 burb. Talk about a PIA to remove! Liquid wrench was my BEST friend that day

At first, I was just going to clean up the core support, and maybe prime or spray the areas that were rusted and exposed.

But after going over it a few times with a wire brush, I said screw it. I called around, and found a guy that would sand blast and powder coat everything (e.g., core support, braces, bumper brackets, etc.) for like $100 bucks.

Wow...I can't believe it's been over 9 months since I updated this thread. Life events sort of took me in another direction...

Plus, I found a crack in the frame when I was checking out the front suspension, so I wasn't sure whether to keep the truck or not. In the end, I decided to weld the crack, and keep going. Unfortunately, I don't own a welding rig, so I had to hire someone from CL to do it. He did an okay job. Can't seem to find pics of the repair job, but I'll post some up when I do.

After getting the frame welded, my next step was to degrease the engine bay so that I could install the core support. Holy ****. That engine bay was horrible. I guess that's what 452,000 miles of grime and bad fluid leaks will do.
